Smell is all around us. It permeates every aspect of human experience and endeavor. The Institute for Art and Olfaction is excited to explore humanity’s deep cultural connections with smell in a new radio show.
Each episode will tackle a new sensorial connection by exploring cultural associations through interviews, community reports and historical insight. Featuring perfumers, academics, aficionados, and artists, Perfume on the Radio will also welcome guest curators from the greater IAO community.
Join the IAO team and friends on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month at 5pm PT on Lookout FM and we’ll take you somewhere fascinating, smelly, and always original.
Episodes will be archived on this website and converted to podcast once they've aired. Look for us in your preferred podcast provider.

Founded in September 2012 in Los Angeles, The Institute for Art and Olfaction is a 501(c)3 non-profit devoted to advancing public access to the practice of working with scent. We do this by initiating and supporting experimental projects with scent, by providing accessible education in our experimental laboratory as well as in partnership with institutions and community groups, and by raising visibility for independent, artisan and experimental perfumery as a whole. Through these efforts, we extend the world of scent beyond its traditional boundaries of appreciation and use.
